Digital Newsfront ready for Cinemas

The digital cinema conversion of our Award winning film Newsfront has now been completed. The DCP was created at Frame Set and Match under the guidance of Steve Dunn.

The digital conversion was financed by the National Film and Sound Archive who were keen to have this classic film available again to cinemas throughout the world.

Newsfront is constantly in demand for screenings but nowadays so few cinemas can show the restored 35 mm print. Our special thanks to NSFA’s terrific staff Meg Labrum and Gayle Lake who masterminded the conversion.

A reel by reel comparison screening was held at the AFTRS cinema and the 2K digital version more than held its own against the 35mm print, in fact the blacks seemed truer and  the opticals sharper, thanks to some clever work by FSM.

With the recent passing of Wendy Hughes, who played the female lead, Newsfront can continue to enthrall audiences with one of Wendy’s great characters, a talented woman in the male dominated Newsreel industry.

Roadshow are now looking into releasing Newsfront in the Blue Ray DVD format.
